Your relationship can't wait for a year of weekly appointments

Couples Intensive for Betrayal, Communication& Intimacy Repair in Memphis, TN

When You Can't Wait, and Can't Keep Living Like This

Something has brought your relationship to a breaking point. A betrayal came to light. The distance became unbearable. You've maybe tried weekly counseling, an hour at a time, and it feels like you spend the first thirty minutes just reopening the wound before you have to stop and go home to more of the same. The slow pace isn't matching the size of what you're facing.

You don't need another year of appointments. You need concentrated, focused time to actually move through this, with a guide who knows the terrain.

Months of Progress in a Focused Block of Time

I'm Allan J. Katz, a licensed counselor, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, and betrayal trauma specialist. A couples intensive is dedicated, concentrated time, just you two and me, to do the deep work that weekly sessions stretch out over months. We're not watching a clock and stopping right when it gets real. We have the space to reach the root, work through the hardest conversations with support in the room, and build a real plan for what comes next.

What the Intensive Does

It moves at the speed of your crisis.

Instead of an hour a week, we work in a focused block, so momentum builds instead of resetting every session.

It gets to the root with support in the room.

The conversations you've been unable to have safely on your own happen here, guided, so they heal instead of blow up.

You leave with a plan, not just relief.

An intensive isn't a one-time catharsis. You walk out with concrete next steps and the tools to keep rebuilding trust and intimacy.

Healing the Betrayal Wound Directly

When betrayal is what brought you here, the intensive format is especially powerful. It gives the betrayed partner uninterrupted space to be heard and to begin healing the trauma, rather than squeezing that pain into a weekly hour and sending them home raw. And it gives the partner who caused the wound the room to take real responsibility and demonstrate change. Concentrated time lets us hold both people's experience at once and do the delicate work of rebuilding safety, which is hard to sustain in start-and-stop weekly sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an intensive worth it compared to regular weekly counseling?

For couples in acute crisis, often yes. An intensive can accomplish in a focused block what weekly sessions stretch across months, precisely because momentum doesn't reset every week. Many couples use an intensive to break through, then step down to regular support.

We're not sure our relationship can be saved. Is it still worth doing?

Yes. Part of the work is getting each of you clear and stable enough to make a real decision, together or apart, from a place of understanding rather than a raw crisis. An intensive gives you that clarity faster.

What if only one of us is fully on board?

That's common, and worth talking through in the consultation. Ambivalence doesn't disqualify you. Sometimes the intensive is exactly what helps a hesitant partner understand what's possible.

Can we do this if we don't live in Memphis?

Yes. Intensives are available in person in Memphis and virtually across Tennessee and New Jersey. We'll find the format that fits.
