Stopping the behavior was the hardest thing you've ever done. And then you discovered that not doing it isn't the same as feeling okay. The compulsion is quiet now, but the feelings it was covering up are loud, restlessness, emptiness, a low hum of being on edge. Some days you're proud of how far you've come. Other days you're white-knuckling it and afraid one hard moment could undo everything.
This is the part almost no one warns you about. Sobriety is the beginning, not the finish line. And staying stuck here, dry but not at peace, is not what you fought so hard for.
